We are looking for a highly skilled Lead Data Engineer to provide technical leadership across data engineering, delivery execution and project governance. This role ensures development standards are upheld while delivering high-quality, reliable solutions on time and within budget. It is suited to someone highly organised, confident and an excellent communicator, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels across Development and IT Change.
As Lead Data Engineer, you will interpret detailed technical requirements and deliverables across multiple projects, acting as a subject-matter expert in data-engineering technologies and contributing to effective solution design. You will mentor, support and guide developers to help them grow and deliver successfully, while balancing your involvement across various initiatives to provide direction, technical leadership and oversight wherever it is needed.
Skills & Experience
- Strong consultancy background across ETL/ELT, data warehousing and big-data solutions, with hands-on delivery experience and proven leadership/mentoring in an onshore–offshore model.
- Proficiency with ETL tools and cloud data services (AWS preferred — e.g., Glue; with exposure to Azure Data Factory), plus experience implementing CI/CD for data; knowledge of Informatica tools is beneficial.
- Experience working with major databases such as Postgres, Redshift, Oracle, SQL Server or Snowflake, along with strong SQL capability and working knowledge of Python/PySpark.
- Ability to synthesise complex business and technical inputs into practical, scalable data-engineering patterns including ETL/ELT pipelines, event-driven ingestion and data-quality frameworks.
- Confidence in constructively challenging solution approaches to improve performance, security and reliability.
