On a mission to help people who have been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, this start-up is looking to bring on a Senior TypeScript Developer, who’s fully embraced AI-assisted development. Their mission is to make life better for people suffering from kidney disease by building one of the first algorithm-based behavioural change programmes. The application that does this brings together tech and health coaches that can be prescribed by doctors.
The role:
- Building new features that cut across a patient-facing React Native app and a NextJS back office
- Helping shape the tech stack and architecture for a new patient-facing web app
- Integrating with 3rd parties such as auth, real-time comms (video/audio/text) and connected health devices
- Using LLMs, agentic frameworks and RAG to improve health coach efficiency
- Helping to hire a great team and building a diverse, open and welcoming culture
What experience do I need?
- Architecture: You’ve designed complex systems from scratch and maintained them over time
- AI assisted development: Comfortable building with and configuring tools like Claude Code (memory/rules files, commands, skills etc)
- TypeScript: This is one of your core competencies; you have a deep understanding of the type system and appreciate the value of end-to-end type safety
- Backend: You’ve built Node servers from scratch, understand the benefits of meta frameworks and have ideally used an RPC layer of some kind
- Frontend: You have a deep understanding of React, data fetching/mutation, state management, form management, design/component systems and styling
- Testing: Comfortable with unit, integration and end to end tests and know when to apply each of them
- Data stores: You’re happy designing schemas for relational databases, performing migrations and querying with or without an ORM. If you have experience of KV stores or other types of databases, that’s a bonus
- Infra: You have some experience of configuring, deploying and monitoring applications using AWS, GCP or another cloud provider
- Documentation: You can succinctly and clearly document technical decisions and processes
- GIF selection: Hands on experience with disappearing Homer, crying Dawson, dramatic chipmunk and more
- Technical nice to haves: Terraform or another IaC system, React Native, Internationalisation, AI engineering experience (agentic frameworks, RAG, evals etc.)
What’s in it for you?
Culture is key to these guys. You’ll be given freedom to work remotely, flexibly, in an autonomous way. They are an early stage start-up so there’s not a ton of benefits at the moment, though they are offering generous equity, a 5K training budget and 28 days holiday (plus your bank holidays). Not to mention the company having an incredibly diverse workforce, cross-collaboration across teams, and lastly, a deep sense of meaning and purpose behind what you do, every single day. Salary wise, they’re happy to offer up to £100K.
