About the role
My Client is seeking a Lead Product Designer with strong UI and Mobile experience to help shape the future of how their customers build their financial futures. This is a rare opportunity to drive a major new product proposition launching early next year, while elevating experiences across their entire product ecosystem.
You\’ll be someone who brings warmth and humanity to everything you design – someone who believes the best products feel playful, intuitive and genuinely delightful to use. If you\’re the kind of designer who obsesses over the details that make people smile, we want to hear from you.
What you\’ll be doing
- Elevating customer experiences: Looking holistically at how customers interact across all our products and identifying opportunities to make their journey smoother and more coherent
- Setting the craft bar high: Pushing visual design excellence and helping the team level up their work through mentorship and quality assurance
- Growing the team: Line managing 1-2 designers, providing guidance, feedback and helping them develop their skills
- Influencing stakeholders: Working confidently with product, engineering and leadership to champion user-centred design decisions
- Product team pedigree: You\’ve worked in-house within product teams (agency experience alone won\’t cut it for this role)
- B2C native mobile expertise: You\’ve designed consumer-facing products, particularly mobile experiences, and understand what makes them tick
- Exceptional UI craft: Your portfolio demonstrates a warm, human, playful aesthetic with meticulous attention to detail
- Stakeholder influence: You\’re confident in presenting work and influencing decision-makers across the business
- Fast-paced environments: You thrive in the momentum of rapid iteration and tight timelines
- Inclusive design mindset: You design for everyone, considering diverse needs and accessibility from the start
Desirable but not essential
- AI-assisted design tools: Experience with Figma Make, Replit or similar, with tangible examples of how you\’ve optimised your process (prompt refinement, design system integration, defined principles for usage)
- Line management experience: If you\’ve formally managed designers, great – but if you\’ve led projects, QA\’d work, or mentored others and are keen to step up, that counts too
What characteristics will work well in this role
- Confident in your opinions but collaborative in your approach
- Senior in your thinking and able to see the bigger picture
- Comfortable with ambiguity and excited by solving complex problems
We want to keep this focused and respectful of your time:
- Portfolio review and Q&A with the Hiring Manager
- Whiteboard challenge with cross-functional team members from engineering, product and potentially product marketing – no homework required
- Final conversation with the Hiring Manager and the Director of Product for Savings
The practical stuff
- Office days: 2 days per week in our Canary Wharf office
- Anchor day: Tuesday, plus generally Tuesday or Thursday as your second day
We\’re an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from everyone. We\’re committed to building diverse teams and creating an inclusive culture where everyone can do their best work.
