Market research analytics is evolving rapidly. Automation, AI and advanced statistical techniques are fundamentally changing how data is collected, structured and interpreted. This role is designed for someone who is motivated by that change and excited by the opportunity to lead both operational excellence and technical progression.
You will be responsible for ensuring high‑quality, timely and robust data outputs across complex research projects, while leading and developing an established specialist team. The Data Operations Lead holds end‑to‑end accountability for survey data, analytics delivery and scripting standards. You will manage day‑to‑day operations while shaping future capability through improved processes, automation and new analytical approaches.
Working closely with research and insight teams, you will act as the senior authority on data methodology, analysis and technical problem‑solving.
Key Responsibilities:- Team Leadership & Operations
- Lead, mentor and develop a specialist data and analytics team
- Allocate work effectively and anticipate resourcing pressures in advance
- Own delivery timelines and ensure outputs are delivered accurately and on schedule
- Drive continuous improvement through clearer processes, documentation and quality controls
- Identify learning needs and lead training initiatives to upskill the team
- Project & Delivery Oversight
- Provide technical leadership across complex research projects
- Partner with research teams to recommend appropriate analytical approaches
- Design and oversee experimental frameworks for advanced studies
- Act as the escalation point for complex data or methodological challenges
- Maintain full visibility of project milestones and delivery checkpoints
- Analytics & Statistics
- Provide expert guidance on the application of statistical techniques
- Deliver and quality‑check structured data tables and analytical outputs
- Apply core analytical approaches such as drivers analysis, segmentation, pricing and brand metrics
- Lead the application of advanced analytical techniques
- Ensure all analysis is methodologically sound, clearly explained and fit for purpose
- Review and sign off on work produced by other team members
- Survey Design & Scripting
- Oversee the development and checking of complex online surveys
- Design efficient survey structures, including quotas, routing and block designs
- Ensure correct handling of completes, screen‑outs and quota management
- Apply custom scripting and logic where required to support advanced methodologies
- Maintain best practice in respondent experience, data integrity and quality assurance
- Communication & Development
- Act as the senior data contact for client‑facing and research teams
- Communicate complex analytical concepts clearly to non‑technical stakeholders
- Contribute to future improvements in research methods and operational processes
- Support the adoption of automation and AI‑driven approaches where they add value
- Senior‑level experience in data operations, analytics or data management within a research or agency environment
- Strong track record delivering complex, high‑value research projects
- Deep understanding of survey data, analysis workflows and quality control
- Advanced statistical knowledge with practical application experience
- Strong survey scripting and experimental design capability
- Working knowledge of analytical programming languages such as R and/or Python
- Proven people leadership and line management experience
