Director of Strategic Communications | CEO's Office
Zealot (zealotlabs. com) builds AI systems that find zero-days, emulate target devices, and develop working exploits for U.
S. defense and intelligence customers.
We're backed by tier-1 U.
S. venture firms and industry leaders, and our team includes alumni of Anthropic, x AI, NSA, USCYBERCOM and Anduril.
We are looking for an unusually strong writer and thinker to help define how Zealot explains itself to the world.
You might be a historian, writer, editor, economist, philosopher, policy researcher, speechwriter, or an unusually sharp generalist whose work does not fit neatly into a conventional category.
What matters is that you can see the larger frame, write exceptionally well, and hold your own with founders, engineers, researchers, policymakers, and serious external critics.
What you'll do
- Work directly with the CEO to develop Zealot's public narrative across essays, speeches, interviews, briefings, and major company moments.
- Research the historical, political, technological, and ethical context surrounding AI, cybersecurity, defense, and state power.
- Turn complicated technical work into clear, accurate, compelling prose without diluting its substance.
- Help articulate the principles behind what Zealot builds, why it matters, and how it should be understood.
- Interview technical experts across the company and quickly develop fluency in unfamiliar subjects.
What we're looking for
- Exceptional English writing, demonstrated through essays, speeches, reporting, research, books, long-form analysis, or similarly rigorous work.
- Strong intellectual range across history, economics, technology, politics, philosophy, or culture.
- The judgment to be precise about sensitive subjects—and the confidence to say when a claim is overstated, unclear, or wrong.
- The ability to absorb technical material, identify the essential point, and explain it without distortion.
- Genuine curiosity about cybersecurity, AI, national security, and how powerful technologies shape institutions and society.
- Comfort working directly with a fast-moving CEO and a highly technical team.
- High standards, discretion, independence, and a bias toward producing excellent work.
- Particularly relevant backgrounds
- History, political theory, economics, philosophy, literature, journalism, rhetoric, or a related field.
- A think tank, newsroom, policy institution, government office, research organization, founder's office, or ambitious technology company.
- Speechwriting, executive communications, editing, or helping a senior principal develop ideas in public.
- Cybersecurity, defense technology, AI policy, national security, or dual-use technology.
This is a full-time, remote role based in the United Kingdom.
To apply, include links to two or three pieces that best represent your thinking and writing. At least one should be entirely your own work.
