About ZEAL
ZEAL is building the foundational protocol layer for the Energy Internet — a decentralised transaction and coordination infrastructure that connects distributed energy assets with digital markets. We enable seamless flows of energy (electrons), intelligence (AI/bits), and capital (value) across a programmable, autonomous grid. Think TCP/IP for clean energy.
This is an on-site role in Abu Dhabi. Candidates based in the UK, US or Europe who are willing to relocate are encouraged to apply. Relocation support and visa sponsorship provided.
The Role
As Energy Market Architect, you’ll design the protocol-native market frameworks, incentive systems, and pricing logic that determine how clean energy is coordinated, valued, and exchanged in a decentralised grid. You’ll lead the architecture of mechanisms that govern how energy, storage, and flexibility are priced and monetised, enabling a shift from centralised utilities to programmable, stakeholder-aligned digital markets. This is a strategic systems design role at the intersection of energy economics, mechanism design, and market infrastructure.
Your Responsibilities
- Design pricing mechanisms for energy, storage capacity, and grid flexibility
- Build multi-sided market dynamics that generate network effects
- Create frameworks enabling tokenised energy assets and fractional ownership
- Develop pricing logic that reflects real-time, multidimensional energy value
- Align incentives across producers, consumers, grid operators, and investors
- Enable equitable and efficient resource allocation in both competitive and cooperative settings
- Design governance models for decentralised energy market participants
- Define onboarding systems for large-scale enterprise and grid stakeholders
- Build partnership models that accelerate protocol adoption and liquidity
What We're Looking For
You are a systems thinker with a deep understanding of market design and a strong grasp of energy systems, digital marketplaces, and stakeholder alignment.
Expertise in:
- Market design and mechanism design (esp. multi-sided platforms)
- Token economics, pricing models, and incentive architecture
- Electricity markets, grid flexibility, and regulatory frameworks
Experience in:
- Designing energy or carbon trading platforms
- Building financial or tokenised infrastructure in regulated environments
- Developing marketplace logic in energy, fintech, or Web3 ecosystems

In your first 12–18 months, success looks like:
