Position Description
The position is primarily responsible for managing a fibre design engineer / OSP / ISP project manager & GIS team in providing end-to-end support, planning and implementation of fibre connectivity solutions for Zayo Infrastructure projects and customer fibre delivery solutions within the UK and mainland Europe.
The OSP Senior Manager Lead is responsible for the successful implementation of Zayo’s fiber infrastructure builds. This position manages a team for the design, estimating, planning, implementation, contract vendor solicitations as well as act as outside plant representation to customers for Zayo sales teams. The individual is also responsible for the management of all aspects of the OSP function for determined projects ensuring that all tasks are completed and reported as committed. This role also requires the ability to enable a cohesive and functional alignment of all internal and external organizations required to successfully support Zayo Fiber Solutions.
Responsibilities
- Manage fibre design / OSP / ISP engineers & GIS team in the delivery of all optical network infrastructure projects from survey / tender stage to planning right through to implementation and acceptance.
- Responsible for daily management and supervision of construction and fibre engineering vendors to expedite the construction, cabling, fibre splicing & testing to deliver multiple OSP projects.
- Design and review fibre optic network designs as per each individual project requirements.
- Production of detailed project costing & BoM.
- Production and issue of high-level design and installation documents.
- Receive and review network As-built information including fibre analysis.
- Assist Sales Engineers to generate routes drawings along with costs, for prospective customer opportunities and network capabilities.
- Interact with Project Managers regarding customer delivery quality issues that require resolution prior to acceptance.
- Standardise and maintain Network information within Salesforce for customer networks and Zayo infrastructure projects, maintaining accuracy and validation.
- Manage relationships of Local Authorities, 3rd parties and ROW contacts. Having a close working relationship with underlying rights group to identify and prepare work permitting and building access agreements.
- Perform Health & Safety and Quality Assurance checks to ensure compliance.
- Provide specialised telecommunications technical expertise to support telecom civil construction methods and optical cable installation both externally and within a datacentre environment.
- Provide direct interface with customers, subcontractors, local authorities and Zayo personnel. Support customer meetings as necessary and travel to client and/or construction sites.
- Oversee procurement of equipment and materials related to the assigned projects.
- Execute Bid Process support, inclusive of fibre networks, infrastructure, backbone design and budgetary requirements.
- Verify and update project documentation to manage project delivery, risk, budgets and internal/external communication.
- Provide on-call support to respond to and troubleshoot network outages and emergency restoration activities.
- Timely tracking of project progress and budget in Salesforce.com and other manual trackers.
- Timely update of budget requests, purchase orders, project close out and internal service orders in Salesforce.
Qualifications
- Must be fluent in both German and English language.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience required within the telecommunications industry working with outside plant, fibre optics, telecommunication networks, optical transport equipment and project management experience.
- Must have 3 years familiarity with all types of outside plant construction and experience managing large capital projects.
- Other qualifications or relevant experience working in a similar role within a telecommunication/utility environment will be considered.
- A working knowledge of all aspects of Zayo’s OSP processes including, but not limited to: OSP construction, Site preparation and permitting & OSP testing and acceptance standards.
- Familiarity with all facets of OSP management, including quotations, construction, RAMS and delivery.
- Must be able to understand and read construction documents and optical test specification/results. (Knowledge & use of “fast reporter would be a distinct advantage).
- Must have good knowledge of Email, MS Excel & Word, Google Docs, Visio, Google Earth, AutoCad and Smallworld GIS. Experience with Salesforce.com would be a distinct advantage.
- Must be able to manage multiple aggressive RFP and design construction schedules and responses.
