Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic plans/initiatives for the Non-Perishable category that align with the overall business objectives, sales targets, and customer demands.
- Monitor supplier service levels on a day-to-day basis to ensure in-full and on-time delivery of high-quality products.
- Utilise data analysis, historical sales trends, and market insights to support demand forecasting for Non-Perishable items and create replenishment plans accordingly.
- Implement inventory management strategies to minimise stockouts, reduce excess inventory, and maintain optimal inventory turnover for Non-Perishable products.
- Establish and monitor quality control standards to ensure that all Non-Perishable products meet the company's quality criteria before reaching the shelves.
- Implement measures to minimise product waste and shrinkage, continuously monitoring expiration dates and handling damaged products efficiently.
- Work closely with the Marketing/Merchandising team to plan promotions, seasonal offerings, and special campaigns for the Non-Perishable category.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations, food safety standards, and health regulations governing the handling and storage of Non-Perishable goods.
- Utilise supply chain analytics and data-driven insights to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost efficiencies within the Non-Perishable category supply chain.
- Develop contingency plans and response strategies to address supply chain disruptions caused by unforeseen events such as natural disasters or transportation challenges.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computing, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience (4-5 years) in supply chain management, preferably in a retail environment, with a focus on Non-Perishable categories.
- In-depth knowledge of supply chain dynamics, including vendor management and quality control processes.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, adept at using data to make informed decisions and optimise supply chain operations.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to build effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Familiarity with supply chain software and technology (SQL, Python) is a plus.
