Overview
This is a broad, hands-on role spanning financial planning, the month-end close and business partnering. Working closely with Zapp’s finance leadership you will support all of Zapp’s financial planning activity, help deliver an accurate and timely close, and act as a finance partner to teams across the business. You will also provide the actuals and analysis behind corporate activity, including fundraising, M&A, partnerships and key contract negotiations, so you will see every part of how Zapp’s finance function works. Zapp is growing fast, and finance grows with it. You’ll work in a high-calibre team with direct exposure to senior leadership. Your remit will flex with the business, so there’s always room to take on more as we scale.
What You Will Do

- Lead all financial planning activities, including the annual budget, quarterly reforecasts and the rolling cash forecast.
- Own parts of the three-statement model, keeping it accurate, up to date and linked to the latest actuals.

- Management accounting and month end
- Support the month-end close, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations, to the Financial Controller’s timetable.
- Prepare and review the monthly management accounts and the commentary that explains performance.
- Help strengthen month-end processes and controls, shortening the close and improving accuracy.
- Business partnering
- Partner with teams across the business, including commercial, operations, marketing and product, to drive performance against profitability and EBITDA targets.
- Act as a trusted finance partner to department heads, aligning their budgets and plans with overall business objectives.
- Prepare and present clear, insightful reporting to senior leadership, surfacing the KPIs and financial metrics that matter.
- Corporate activity
- Provide the actuals and analysis that support the Principal, Finance (Head of Finance) on fundraising, M&A, partnerships and key contract negotiations.
- Support due diligence and data room preparation when transactions are live.
Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA), ideally audit trained, with 2+ years’ post-qualification experience.
- Entrepreneurial mindset - comfortable in a fast-moving environment, able to take responsibility from day one and work independently by following processes and own directions.
- Strong hands-on finance experience spanning FP&A and management accounting, gained in industry (retail or high-growth consumer experience a plus, but by no means essential).
