Zanda is an Executive search partner that works exclusively with high-growth start-ups as they look to scale their business with senior talent. Zanda partners with VCs, Founders, CEOs and CFOs when it comes to successfully delivering on key senior appointments.
Who’s the business: Zanda is proud to be partnering with a category-defining, consumer services focused FinTech. The startup in question has reached £5m ARR and break-even status, it is concluding on a growth capital raise in Q1 to help drive the business towards £30m + revenue in the next 2-3 years. As a result of this fundraise the business is looking to identify a CFO who can be a strategic co-pilot to the CEO. The successful individual will own the financial architecture of the business during a period of rapid expansion, ensuring that growth is sustainable, data-driven, and highly efficient.
Alongside this you will be responsible for professionalising the finance function, leading regulatory compliance under the FCA, and leveraging technology to ensure the business scales without needing a large finance team. You will lead the company’s financial strategy, investment reporting, OKRs and risk management.
What experiences you will gain: As CFO, you will be a key strategic partner to the CEO and Board, taking ownership of all financial reporting and governance, fundraising, and investor-facing responsibilities. This is not just a finance role, it’s a leadership position where you will be responsible for being the ambassador for the business internally and externally. Partner with the CEO and Board to operationalise long‑term strategy. You will translate vision into robust operating models and clear financial roadmaps. Work closely with the Sales teams to structure high‑value B2B2C agreements. Build and develop a high‑calibre finance function across FP&A, decision support, reporting, tax, legal, treasury, investor relations. Take ownership of our regulatory relationship, holding the SMF designation and ensuring the business remains at the forefront of industry compliance. Provide calm and clarity in a fast‑paced, high‑complexity environment, supporting strategic decision‑making across regions and departments. Drive the transition toward an automated finance function. The right CFO will lead the implementation of intelligent tools for real‑time reporting, predictive unit economics, and streamlined administrative workflows. Establish a "single source of truth" by integrating financial systems with operational data stack, ensuring every strategic decision is supported by rigorous ROI analysis.
What background should you have before you press apply! Prior experience as a CFO / Finance Lead in a FCA regulated FinTech. Proven track record of leading finance in a VC or PE backed startup or scaleup. Prior fundraising and investor relations experience. Gravitas and credibility to influence senior investors, boards, and external advisors. Hands on with AI and automation tools for driving efficiencies. Strength in financial operations, governance, and compliance for complex international structures that are FCA regulated. Commercial mindset and strong understanding of CAC / LTV alongside other key metrics.
