We are looking for a Transport Planner to join our team. The purpose of this role is to allocate specific vehicles and drivers to each job, arrange for the delivery of our products, and ensure processes are being adhered to, while always providing the most cost-effective solution.
How will you contribute?
- Optimize deliveries to achieve the highest journey payload, pursuing KPI efficiency and minimizing costs by producing and selecting optimal plans based on service and cost considerations.
- Liaise with external hauliers as required.
- Understand, interpret, and ensure the timely delivery of all orders received from the business.
- Manage customer delivery lead-times (ATP).
- Serve as a direct point of contact between Logistics and Driver Support teams.
- Engage the most cost-effective delivery solutions focusing on cost control without compromising service level aspirations.
- Develop positive relationships with stakeholders to facilitate contributions and challenges to the delivery plan.
- Act as the primary link between Sales, Operations, and Logistics regarding delivery plans.
- Ensure delivery plans reflect resource availability.
- Produce strategic plans to identify pinch points and resource issues.
- Participate in the Plan/Do/Review cycle to incorporate continuous learning into planning processes.
- Collaborate with Sites and 3rd Party Hauliers to identify improvements in cost and service.
- Support budget creation and monitoring with relevant information.
- Maintain accurate and updated systems, considering factors like road closures and unloading/loading times, and ensure overall housekeeping.
- Provide training to colleagues as needed.
- Implement timely system updates to ensure customer service and timely deliveries.
- Produce KPI reports on key performance metrics and identify remedial actions to meet targets.
Requirements
- Previous experience in transport planning.
- Ability to work independently, organize workload, and prioritize tasks amidst changing demands.
- Ability to consult with senior management and act as a liaison between Logistics, Planning, Sales, and Operations.
- Works well under pressure.
- Logical thinker with attention to detail and high commitment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for individual and group settings.
- Proficient in problem solving, analysis, numerical, and IT skills.
