Supply Planning & Purchasing Coordinator
London | Hybrid (3 days in the office, North London) | Competitive salary + bonus + excellent benefits
The Company
I'm working with a long-standing client of mine, an international consumer goods business that's continuing to grow across global markets.
As they expand, they're looking to add another person to a close-knit team that plays a key role in keeping customers, suppliers and internal teams connected.
It's a business I've recruited for a number of years and one where people genuinely enjoy working.
The culture is collaborative, there's a real buzz around the office and people tend to build long-term careers because they enjoy the variety, the people and the opportunities to grow.
The Opportunity
Are you currently working in Supply Planning, Purchasing or Merchandising and looking for a role with more variety and commercial exposure?
This is an opportunity to move beyond one part of the supply chain and become involved in the full journey, working closely with customers, Sales, Planning, Supply Chain and manufacturing partners across Europe and wider international markets.
You'll also work closely with colleagues in the US and manufacturing partners in Asia, coordinating customer orders from purchase through to delivery and helping to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible.
This isn't simply about keeping orders moving.
It's about understanding the bigger picture, building relationships and solving problems when challenges arise.
Whether it's working around production constraints, finding creative ways to overcome minimum order quantities or balancing different customer requirements, you'll enjoy working with others to find the best solution.
It's a busy role with lots of moving parts, but that's exactly what makes it interesting.
You'll have exposure to different areas of the business, get involved in projects beyond your day-to-day responsibilities and play a part in a function that's continuing to evolve.
The hiring manager isn't looking for someone to simply keep things ticking over.
She's looking for someone who's curious, enjoys asking questions, likes finding solutions and wants to contribute to the way the team continues to develop.
The Role
Day to day you'll be
- Coordinating customer orders from purchase order through to delivery.
- Working closely with overseas manufacturing partners to manage purchasing activity and production.
- Monitoring production schedules and resolving issues before they become bigger problems.
- Working collaboratively with Sales, Planning and Supply Chain teams.
- Supporting forecasting, planning and wider commercial operations.
- Building relationships with customers and responding to account queries.
- Understanding that different customers have different processes, compliance requirements and ways of working.
- Finding practical solutions when production, timings or minimum order quantities create challenges.
- Looking for opportunities to improve processes and make things work better.
- The Person
This role could be a great fit if you're currently working as a
- Supply Planner
- Demand Planner
- Customer Supply Chain Coordinator
- Supply Chain Coordinator
- Production Planner
- Inventory Planner
Equally, you may already have experience across a couple of different areas, perhaps moving between Planning, Purchasing or Commercial Operations, and be looking for a role that brings everything together.
What's important is the way you approach your work.
We're looking for someone who
- Is naturally curious and enjoys learning.
- Loves solving problems and finding practical solutions.
- Enjoys working with different people and building strong relationships.
- Is organised and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
- Has experience supporting customers across Europe and/or wider international markets rather than solely the UK.
- Understands that different customers have different processes, compliance requirements and ways of working.
- Has experience working with international colleagues, customers or suppliers across different regions.
- Wants to contribute ideas, improve processes and make a genuine difference.
- Experience within consumer goods would be beneficial, particularly if you've worked with products manufactured in Asia, but attitude, commercial awareness and a willingness to learn are just as important.
If you've been thinking about moving into a broader role where you'll gain more commercial exposure, work with international teams and have the opportunity to make a real impact, I'd love to hear from you.
