An incredibly exciting opportunity has arisen for a Garment Technologist to join a rapidly growing outdoor lifestyle fashion brand on a maternity cover contract of a minimum of 6 months, with the potential for this to develop further.

Working as part of a collaborative and supportive product team, you'll play a key role in ensuring garments are technically robust, well-fitting and meet the brand's high standards from initial development through to production. You'll work closely with Design, Product Development and suppliers, using your technical expertise to help bring innovative and commercially successful products to life.

This is a brilliant opportunity to join an ambitious brand at an exciting stage of its growth, with a genuinely lovely team and a flexible hybrid working model of 2 -3 days per week in the office in central Manchester. The role is available to start ASAP.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the technical development of garments from initial concept and first samples through to final production approval.
  • Review samples and provide clear, accurate feedback on fit, construction, measurements and overall garment quality.
  • Lead fit sessions and ensure garments achieve the required fit, functionality and aesthetic across relevant product categories.
  • Create and maintain accurate technical specifications, measurement charts, construction details and product documentation.
  • Work closely with Design, Product and suppliers to identify and resolve technical issues throughout the development process.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers and factories, communicating technical requirements clearly and ensuring agreed standards are consistently met.
  • Monitor product quality and support the approval process across sampling and production, flagging any potential risks or issues early.
  • Maintain development trackers and critical paths, ensuring key deadlines are met and keeping the wider team informed of progress.

About You

  • Previous experience within Garment Technology, ideally within fashion, outdoor, activewear or a technically focused product environment.
  • Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, measurements and technical specifications.
  • Comfortable reviewing samples, identifying issues and providing clear, practical solutions and feedback.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple products and deadlines at once.
  • A proactive and hands-on approach, with the confidence to take ownership and follow things through.
  • A collaborative team player who enjoys working closely with Design, Product and suppliers within a fast-paced, growing business.
