The Role
As Contract Manager, you will be accountable for the safe, compliant, and commercially successful delivery of all contracts within your remit. You will ensure performance, engagement, and service excellence remain consistently high.
You will play a key role in shaping and delivering the organisation's SHEQ strategy, embedding a culture where safety and compliance are non-negotiable, while also driving continuous improvement and innovation across operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Full ownership of P&L performance, including budgeting, cost control, and optimisation of commercial opportunities
- Delivery and governance of the SHEQ strategy, ensuring best-in-class safety and compliance standards
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships, ensuring high satisfaction, retention, and growth across the contract portfolio
- Leading industrial relations, including engagement with trade unions and responsibility for wage negotiations
- Ensuring full compliance with all legal and regulatory frameworks, including operator licensing and driver regulations
- Aligning operational capacity with long-term customer demand, ensuring optimal resource planning and utilisation
About You
You are a commercially driven and strategically minded operations leader with a strong track record in managing large-scale logistics or transport contracts.
You will bring:
- Proven experience in a national, multi-site leadership role
- Strong commercial acumen with full ownership of high-value P&Ls (£multi-million)
- A track record of delivering operational excellence across both blue-chip and SME clients
- Experience managing industrial relations and engaging effectively with trade unions
- The ability to lead, influence, and inspire teams in a remote, fast-paced environment
