Are you in Retail Management, CIPD qualified (or currently working towards it), and looking to make the move into a Head Office HR role? If so, this could be exactly the opportunity you've been waiting for. These roles really are like gold dust and don't come around very often. We are partnering with a well-established retail business to recruit an HR Advisor to join their close-knit People team. They're genuinely open to considering experienced Retail Managers who are ready to take that first step into HR, as well as HR professionals looking for a broader generalist role.

If you've spent your career leading teams, managing employee relations, coaching managers and putting people first, you've already built many of the skills needed to succeed in HR.

What you’ll be doing

  • Providing first-line HR advice and support to managers across retail, warehouse and head office.
  • Supporting employee relations cases including absence, disciplinary, grievance, performance and flexible working.
  • Managing onboarding, probation reviews, employee changes and HR administration.
  • Supporting recruitment across retail, warehouse and head office, from advertising roles through to interviewing and onboarding.
  • Maintaining HR and payroll systems, ensuring employee records are accurate and up to date.
  • Producing HR reports and using people data to identify trends and support business decisions.
  • Supporting HR projects, policy updates and continuous improvements across the People function.
  • Building strong relationships with managers and becoming a trusted HR partner across the business.

About you

You’ll enjoy building relationships, thrive in a busy environment and genuinely enjoy helping people. We’re looking for someone with:

  • Experience in retail management or a generalist HR role.
  • Exposure to employee relations and coaching managers.
  • CIPD Level 3 or Level 5 (or currently working towards it) would be advantageous, but practical experience is equally important.
  • A commercial, pragmatic approach to people challenges.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • A proactive mindset with a genuine passion for people.

This is an opportunity to join a friendly, owner-led business where you’ll have real exposure across every aspect of HR. You’ll work closely with an experienced Head of HR, gain broad generalist experience, have your ideas listened to, and play a genuine part in shaping the People function. If you’re looking for that opportunity to build a long-term career in HR, this could be the perfect next step.

Salary up to £35,000 + Bonus & Benefits. Please apply with your most up to date CV!
