This is a P&L-owning role with responsibility for marketplace revenue, profitability and growth. The successful candidate will set the strategy, identify and onboard new suppliers and vendors, and drive the performance of the existing marketplace through Mirakl.

The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on commercial delivery. Managing a medium-sized team, the Marketplace Lead will remain close to the detail, from supplier acquisition and onboarding through to account management, range development and performance optimisation. This is a fast-moving environment where priorities can shift quickly, so the role will suit someone who is commercially driven, decisive and comfortable operating at pace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the marketplace P&L, driving revenue, margin, profitability and sustainable growth.
  • Develop and execute the strategy to scale the marketplace proposition through Mirakl.
  • Lead supplier/vendor acquisition, identifying and securing new partners to expand range and commercial opportunity.
  • Own the supplier lifecycle from sourcing and onboarding through to account management and growth.
  • Drive supplier performance, range expansion, availability and commercial output.
  • Manage and develop a medium-sized marketplace team, while remaining hands-on in the operation.
  • Set and monitor marketplace KPIs, using data to identify opportunities and address underperformance.
  • Work cross-functionally with Trading, Ecommerce, Technology, Operations and Marketing to maximise marketplace performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, supplier experience and marketplace scalability.
  • Lead commercial negotiations and relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
  • Continually assess the marketplace proposition, competitors and market opportunities to identify new areas for growth.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience leading a marketplace P&L within an online retail or ecommerce environment.
  • Strong experience scaling a marketplace proposition, ideally through Mirakl.
  • Experience with DSV / Drop Ship Vendor models would be highly beneficial.
  • Strong understanding of supplier/vendor acquisition, onboarding, account management and commercial growth.
  • Proven track record of delivering revenue and profit growth through a marketplace.
  • Experience managing and developing a medium-sized team.
  • Commercially minded and highly analytical, with strong understanding of marketplace KPIs and profitability.
  • Comfortable operating strategically while remaining hands-on and close to the detail.
  • Confident working in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities and making decisions quickly.
  • Strong stakeholder management and commercial negotiation skills.
  • Available at short notice or on a relatively short notice period.

The Opportunity

A genuine opportunity to take ownership of an established marketplace proposition and drive its next stage of commercial growth. This is a 12-month contract based in Central London with hybrid working. Given the immediate requirement, candidates available at short notice will be particularly well suited.
