Health & Safety Manager - Store Development & Construction
We're partnering with a globally recognised retail and hospitality brand to recruit an experienced Health & Safety Manager to support the safe delivery of its ambitious store development programme across the UK.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Health & Safety professional who has extensive experience within store development, retail fit-out, construction or refurbishment projects.
You will play a key role in ensuring all new store openings, refurbishments and construction activities are delivered safely, compliantly and in line with best practice.
This role has a national remit, supporting projects across the UK, so regular travel to sites will be required.
Please note: Experience in Health & Safety within store development, retail construction, fit‑out or similar environments is essential.

The Role
Reporting into the senior leadership team, you’ll be responsible for driving Health & Safety across the property, construction and store development function, working closely with internal stakeholders, contractors and external partners.
Key responsibilities include
- Leading Health & Safety across new store openings, refurbishments and construction projects.
- Ensuring compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation and CDM regulations.
- Providing expert guidance to project managers, property teams and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Carrying out site inspections, audits and risk assessments to maintain the highest safety standards.
- Reviewing construction methods, RAMS and contractor performance.
- Investigating incidents, identifying root causes and implementing preventative measures.
- Developing and maintaining Health & Safety policies, procedures and training.
- Building strong relationships with internal teams and external contractors to create a positive safety culture.
- Travelling nationally to support project teams, conduct site visits and ensure consistent Health & Safety standards are maintained across all locations.
About You
- We're looking for an experienced Health & Safety professional who can demonstrate:
- Proven experience managing Health & Safety within store development, retail construction, fit‑out or refurbishment projects.
- Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and CDM Regulations.
- Experience working with multiple contractors across fast-paced project environments.
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent qualification).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to influence at all levels and drive a proactive safety culture.
- A full UK driving licence and the flexibility to travel nationally as part of the role.
