Are you a natural networker who knows how to spot a great brand, build a relationship and turn a conversation into a commercial opportunity? We're looking for a New Business Lead to join a fast-growing retail business and play a key role in expanding its online proposition across marketplace and dropship. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who loves the hunt for new business, understands ecommerce and retail, and gets a buzz from seeing an idea go from "we should work together" to "we're live!"

So, what will you be doing?

  • Hunting down exciting new brands, sellers and suppliers across priority categories
  • Building and managing a strong new business pipeline
  • Identifying gaps in the current online range and finding the brands that could fill them
  • Researching markets, competitors and emerging trends to uncover new opportunities
  • Getting out there - attending trade shows, industry events and supplier meetings to build your network
  • Pitching the benefits of partnering with the business and converting prospects into partners
  • Leading commercial negotiations and agreeing terms that work for everyone
  • Looking for opportunities to secure marketing investment and advertising revenue from suppliers
  • Working with partners on launch promotions to maximise visibility and early sales
  • Managing the onboarding process, making sure new suppliers are compliant, connected and ready to trade
  • Working closely with Buying, Marketplace, Digital, Merchandising, Content and Operations teams to turn opportunities into live ranges

What are we looking for?

You'll ideally have 3-5+ years' experience in business development, sales or partner acquisition within ecommerce, online marketplaces, retail or a digital platform. We're looking for someone who:

  • Is commercially switched-on and loves finding new opportunities
  • Understands how online marketplaces and supplier ecosystems work
  • Has experience with seller/product compliance and onboarding
  • Is confident prospecting, pitching and negotiating with new partners
  • Can build genuine relationships and influence people at different levels
  • Is comfortable working with data, Excel, formulas and graphs
  • Has strong organisational skills and can keep multiple opportunities moving at once
  • Is curious about retail, ecommerce, brands and what customers are buying next
  • Enjoys working collaboratively with lots of different teams
  • Is proactive, confident and not afraid to pick up the phone and make things happen

Experience with Mirakl and/or Virtualstock would be a big plus, but it's not essential.

Why this role?

This isn't a role where you'll simply manage an existing supplier list. You'll be responsible for finding the next big opportunity. You'll have the freedom to research, build relationships, pitch ideas and develop partnerships that can genuinely shape and grow the online proposition. If you're commercially hungry, love ecommerce and are at your best when you're opening doors, winning business and making things happen, we'd love to hear from you.
