Senior Youth Worker - Ipswich

Futures Academy by Y Schools Queensland, Ipswich Campus (pending NSSAB accreditation) is seeking a passionate Senior Youth Worker on a Permanent, Full-Time basis based in Ipswich.

As the Senior Youth Worker at Futures Academy Ipswich campus, you will be responsible for assisting young people in understanding their full potential, regardless of their background or individual circumstances. You will thrive in the knowledge that your guidance can impact young people to recognise their true value in a holistic sense and gain fulfilment from seeing them grow into young, empowered adults.

What will the role involve:

• Coordinate the delivery of the school’s pastoral care and community development program so that student wellbeing needs, and attendance targets are met.
• Plan and lead wellbeing programs to students.
• Support the delivery of vocational training programs offered to students.
• Assist in delivering associated programs, services and events offered to young people through the operation of the campus.
• Form intentional relationships with young people so that their strengths, passions, interests and unmet needs can be supported appropriately through the operation of the school.

Am I a good match?

• Hold a Certificate IV or above in Youth Work, Community Services or other relevant qualification.
• Hold a Positive Notice Blue Card, or be willing to obtain.
• Hold a Valid National Police Check within the last 6 months, or willingness to obtain.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with young people and their families from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and apply appropriate behaviour management strategies that contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a supportive environment.
• Commitment to working with young people using the Strengths Approach and ability to demonstrate non-judgmental, empathic framework.
• Be able to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
