Assist the Waterfront Director in the implementation of scheduled summer camp swim programs at Camp Wind in the Pines. Maintain Department of Early Education and Care, QRIS, DPH requirements, health and safety regulations and promote the highest quality of customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct appropriate swim programs and waterfront activities, under the direction of the Waterfront Director, for Camp Wind in the Pines in Leicester.
  • Maintain proper equipment necessary to implement programs offered, and maintain a safe swimming environment. Report any problems or safety concerns to the Waterfront Director.
  • Respond immediately to an emergency using established emergency procedures.
  • Set out equipment as needed (i.e.: lane lines) and pick up when finished so that waterfront area stays cleared.
  • Report any problems or concerns expressed by participants to supervisor to ensure effective resolution and follow-through.
  • Notify supervisor in advance of absence and arrange for qualified substitute if requested to by Waterfront Director.
  • Maintain all required water safety certifications.
  • Assist the Waterfront Director to establish a baseline of water ability for each camper at enrollment and measure the progress of each participant throughout the camp session.
  • Enforce the policies and rules of camp, and the waterfront; assist with the management, maintenance and cleanliness of waterfront site, ensuring the safety of all the campers.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications

  • American Red Cross Lifeguard and First Aid/CPR certifications or YMCA Lifeguard or Star Guard or Ellis and Ellis Lifeguarding.
  • Ability to work with and respond to members, and to relate to people of diverse attitudes and interests.
  • WSI preferred but not required.
