The role:
This is an excellent opportunity to join a committed team based at our client’s site in Derby. As part of the Shunting office, you will carry out a range of administrative tasks that help ensure the smooth running of daily operations. The role places strong emphasis on the use of IT systems and on clearly communicating information to Shunter Drivers, key stakeholders, and the customer. While previous transport experience is desirable, it is not essential as full training will be provided. The ideal candidate will be confident using IT systems—particularly Excel and Outlook—and will demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Management of the on-site shunting trailer control system application.
- Management of onsite container shunting logs.
- Populating information on the parts control systems.
- Ensuring KPI’s are created/maintained.
- Liaising with other Yusen departments and customers to answer queries as and when they arise.
- Complete shunt audit information as required.
- Answering email/telephone queries.
- Raising defects for shunt vehicles and trailers / containers.
- Seeking continual improvement opportunities within shunt / site operation.
- Comfortable working a rotating shift pattern and willing to undertake overtime when required.
Key Skills And Experience:
- Good communication skills – verbal and written.
- Computer literate – Microsoft Applications and MS Teams.
- Previous Transport admin experience is an advantage.
- Ability to withstand pressure and work to tight deadlines.
- Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.
- Attention to detail.
- Good organisational skills.
