The Contract Manager will be based at GP2 and is responsible for managing the operational, commercial and customer-facing functions of their portfolio of contracts, ensuring service quality, adherence to company and customer standards and maintaining good staff relations and health & safety practices.

Key responsibilities

  • Operations
  • P&L responsibility for the activities within the cost centres under their control
  • Manage supplier agreements and terms of business; address contraventions as appropriate
  • Ensure full compliance with YLUK financial processes and procedures; provide guidance to the business
  • Review and monitor achievement of budgetary performance
  • Compile a detailed monthly financial summary and identify cost-saving initiatives
  • Directly manage a portfolio of contracts activity and customer relationships; oversee operational staff
  • Communicate issues with expectations promptly within Yusen Logistics and to the customer
  • Customer Service
  • Establish and maintain effective customer relationships; act as key contact for Network Transport operations
  • Maintain professional communication to a high standard
  • Identify and recommend resolutions to customer queries
  • Produce regular management information and accurate reporting for stakeholders
  • Health and Safety
  • Ensure all health and safety procedures are adhered to at all times
  • Raise non-compliances or concerns promptly
  • Ensure equipment checks and safe working environment; maintain risk assessments and procedures
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Develop commercial offerings aligned with sustainability strategy and customer expectations
  • Develop and deploy sales approaches for sustainable solutions
  • Collaborate with Sustainability Committee to drive innovation and CSR
  • Identify opportunities to reduce environmental impact
  • Lead sustainability initiatives aligned with targets
  • Promote sustainable solutions to Yusen customers
  • Key requirements
  • Proven management experience within a logistics/transport operation
  • Logistics management professional with broad experience of modern technology and strong TMS/WMS knowledge
  • Commercial awareness and cost management
  • Proven history of business improvement through analysis
  • Team player with management skills
  • Proven ability to interface with customers (internal & external)
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Valid driving licence
  • IT skills: Outlook, Excel, Power Point
  • Ability to manage multiple contracts and meet tight deadlines
