Senior Business Analyst - RML

Department Summary

The Global Production Strategy & Transformation team is a new department, established over recent months to lead and drive the delivery of transformational programmes and projects within the Production and Innovation division in Hogarth. Our work can range from the implementation of new technologies to enable production optimisation, leading the delivery of new capabilities in emerging technologies, through to managing organisational restructuring across our global centres, and everything in between. Due to the diverse range of projects within our portfolio, it’s expected that we are comfortable working across both technology and also people & process to ensure successful delivery and continued adoption of all initiatives.

What does a Business Analyst need to do at Hogarth?

We are looking for a senior and experienced Business Analyst who will be on secondment at TalkTalk Telecommunications Group Limited. We need someone who can analyse current communications, documenting requirements for the new Requirements Modelling Language (RML) operating system for letters and working with HTML developers. The role will spend around 80% of their time on requirements gathering vs. RML coding / conversion.

What level of RML expertise is required?

The role requires strong RML experience to support TalkTalk who are moving all comms to Kraken, and every single email they send will need to have a letter (printed) back up. Any letters that currently exist will need updating into RML.

How much integration with the Kraken system is involved?

Full integration with Kraken.

Will there be ongoing maintenance and development of RML templates?

Yes, there will be as TalkTalk have just implemented Kraken operating system to improve their customer communications and experience.

Responsibilities

• Understanding business needs: Collaborating with stakeholders to understand the business context, goals, and objectives.
• Requirements elicitation and documentation: Working with various stakeholders to gather and document requirements, using RML diagrams to visually represent the requirements. Creating and maintaining RML models, including Goal Models, Use Case Models, and Actor Models, to capture the project's business objectives and requirements.
• Requirements analysis and specification: Analysing the gathered requirements to identify potential gaps, conflicts, and ambiguities, and specifying the requirements in detail.
• Communication and collaboration: Communicating the requirements clearly to the development team, stakeholders, and other relevant parties, ensuring everyone understands the project goals and objectives.
• Stakeholder management: Managing stakeholder expectations, addressing concerns, and ensuring alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
• Test case development and testing: Contributing to the development of test cases and supporting testing activities to ensure that the developed system meets the business needs. Identifying and assessing potential risks associated with the project and developing mitigation strategies.
• Proactively work with teammates to improve processes and work methods for greater efficiency.
• Optimise images to ensure email weight is kept to a minimum.

In essence, a Business Analyst using RML who will confidently be a bridge between the TalkTalk Business Marketing team, business and technology, ensuring that the final product meets the business's requirements and goals. They are crucial for successful software development projects, particularly those involving complex requirements and inter-disciplinary teams.

• Relevant and excellent Requirements Modelling Language (RML) work experience.
• Advanced knowledge and understanding of (RML) and operating systems like Kraken.
• Adept at analysing business needs, data, defining requirements, and documenting them using RML diagrams.
• Proficiency in translating business goals into concrete specifications, ensuring the software development process aligns with the business objectives. Knowledgeable of print compliance regulations.
• Familiarity with print marketing and marketing automation technology.
• Some experience of using Kraken useful.
