We have an exciting opportunity for a Management Accountant within the Yunex Traffic UK business. This role will provide financial support and governance to our Research & Development (R&D) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) functions. The successful candidate will also work closely with the Project Administration and Project Management teams to ensure the achievement of financial and business objectives.

The role will serve as a key member of the Yunex Finance Team, reporting directly to the Finance Manager for Projects and Systems. In this position, you will collaborate closely with the Engineering Director to ensure that all financial targets within your remit are achieved. As part of the role, you will be responsible for ensuring month end activities are completed in an accurate and timely manner, as well as monthly reporting.

You will be directly impacting the business areas performance through the insight offered by your analysis and input into decision making. Working closely with different levels of management to drive efficiencies and change, whilst ensuring financial and commercial implications are fully understood.

Responsibilities

  • Complete month end processes including accruals, prepayments, margin reviews, cost and recovery analysis.
  • Produce the management accounting pack including project spend, warranty spend, AWS spend, headcount reports and cost centre analysis and provide information to relevant managers to facilitate greater understanding of performance.
  • Produce and present financial insights at the quarterly R&D reviews.
  • Partner with operational management to provide accurate monthly forecasts for cost centre spend, department performance and HQ work. Ensure budgets are prepared accurately and to relevant timescales.
  • Provide detailed analysis and financial insights to support the formulation of the department’s strategies for the development and improvement of local procedures, working practices and general efficiency.
  • Providing key analysis of Innovation opportunities with consideration to returns, business strategy and risk. A key member of the team deciding which funding opportunities should be pursued.
  • Maintain effective control of all financial administration/invoicing to ensure invoices are raised at the earliest opportunity and that sales are taken in accordance with Yunex policy and accounting guidelines. Always ensuring that ICFR requirements are adhered to.
  • Ensure appropriate cost controls are in place to ensure spend is approved and tracked appropriately. Analysis of purchase orders to ensure timely payment of key suppliers.
  • Work with the Finance manager proving the control and reporting of lower value projects is carried out to enable effective financial management and allowing the maximisation of sales and margin.
  • Ensure that non-conformance arising from the delivery of projects and orders is captured and reported through appropriate tools, and work with the operational management of all relevant areas of the business to ensure that the root causes are identified and that corrective actions are identified and delivered to prevent recurrence.
  • Work with external auditors to complete the R&D Tax claim. Lead this process by providing supporting information and maximising the amount claimable.
  • Liaise with other Yunex entities to agree charging for resource provision, licence agreements and work packages.
  • Work with other areas of the business to understand resourcing needs and funding for the department.
  • You will be expected to identify and solve day to day and longer-term problems you may meet and respond to and identify and provide solutions to problems that the business encounters and which fall into your area of expertise.

Qualification & Experience

  • Candidates must be either a fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, or ACCA) or part‑qualified and actively working towards qualification.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, complemented by a solid working knowledge of other Microsoft Office suites.
  • Working knowledge of SAP would be preferable.
  • Ability to work closely with all disciplines within the business and explain financial data to non finance professionals.
  • Ability to take on responsibility / ownership for processes and actively drive towards results.
  • Proven examples of working on own initiative to actively seek out opportunities for improvement.
