Do you want to make a difference with the work you do? Join us as a Maintenance Engineer. This is an exciting fast track opportunity to develop a career supporting critical highway infrastructure, working on traffic signals, intelligent roadside technology, communications systems and emerging smart city solutions. Through a structured training programme and hands-on learning alongside experienced engineers, you will gain the skills and experience needed to become a fully competent Traffic Signal Maintenance Engineer.

Working across the Northwest region, you will support maintenance contracts covering:

  • Greater Manchester
  • Liverpool City Region
  • Cheshire West & Chester
  • Warrington
  • Lancashire

You'll work alongside experienced engineers, gaining practical experience across all aspects of traffic signal maintenance and roadside technology. From installation and repair works through to cable testing, fault-finding and the commissioning of IP communication systems, you will develop the knowledge and skills required to become an integral part of our engineering team.

As part of your development journey, you will be provided with:

Responsibilities:

  • Shadow experienced engineers and learn all aspects of traffic signal maintenance.
  • Assist with the installation, maintenance and repair of traffic signal and roadside technology assets.
  • Carry out electrical testing, fault diagnosis and equipment inspections.
  • Complete cable testing and fault-finding activities.
  • Assist in setting up and commissioning IP communication systems.
  • Complete reactive maintenance and planned inspection activities.
  • Submit accurate job reports, site records and closure documentation.
  • Develop competence on both Yunex and third-party equipment.
  • Support the deployment and maintenance of new technologies, including:
    • AI camera systems
    • Advanced vehicle detection technology
    • Next-generation pedestrian detection systems

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Electrical 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification. (Desirable)
  • NVQ Level 3 in an Electrical or Electrotechnical discipline. (Desirable)
  • Relevant engineering qualification such as:
    • Apprenticeship
    • BTEC
    • HNC/HND
    • Degree in Electrical Engineering or Maintenance Engineering
  • Mechanical: Experience using hand tools. Experience using power tools.
  • IT: Comfortable using laptops, tablets and mobile devices. Ability to complete digital reports and documentation accurately.
