You will own the global category strategy across electronic components, semiconductors, PCBAs, EMS partners and related technologies used in our products and solutions. The electronics supplier market is highly dynamic. Semiconductor availability, lifecycle risk, supplier concentration, geopolitical exposure, long qualification cycles and technology change can directly affect delivery, cost, quality and customer commitments. In this role, you will turn these market developments into a clear category strategy, stronger supplier governance and practical risk mitigation.

You will lead the global Electronics category agenda across Yunex Traffic. This includes setting the strategic direction, supplier strategy, governance standards and commercial priorities, while working closely with Regional Commodity Managers and regional procurement teams to translate global strategy into regional execution.

What are my responsibilities?

  • Define and lead the global Electronics category strategy, including sourcing priorities, supplier governance, commercial roadmap and risk mitigation across components, semiconductors, PCBAs, EMS partners and related technologies.
  • Provide functional leadership across global and regional procurement teams, ensuring Regional Commodity Managers are aligned with the category strategy, supplier roadmap, sourcing priorities and contract coverage expectations.
  • Establish clear ways of working with Regional Commodity Managers, including category alignment, decision paths, sourcing roles, escalation routes and follow-up on regional execution.
  • Build and maintain a structured supplier strategy covering preferred supplier panels, single-source transparency, supplier performance, allocation exposure, lifecycle risk and business continuity requirements.
  • Use market intelligence, supplier insight and component-level data to anticipate supply constraints, lead-time developments, technology roadmaps, end-of-life exposure and regional supply risks.
  • Work closely with Engineering, R&D, Quality, Operations, Product Management, Finance and Legal to align sourcing decisions with technical, commercial and business requirements.
  • Lead cross-functional category governance for Electronics and align stakeholders on category strategy, supplier risks, sourcing decisions, cost actions and implementation priorities.
  • Lead or steer strategic sourcing and supplier negotiations for key suppliers and major initiatives, including supply agreements, allocation management and high-impact commercial decisions.
  • Drive stronger contractual coverage for strategic electronics suppliers, including supply continuity, quality obligations, liability, change notification, end-of-life and last-time-buy provisions.
  • Maintain a clear commercial fact base using spend data, BOM and component data, TCO, benchmark pricing, cost-driver analysis, should-cost models and supplier performance information.
  • Report on category strategy progress, market developments, supplier risks, realised savings, cost mitigation, supplier performance and broader value contribution.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong experience in strategic procurement, category management or sourcing, ideally in a global engineering, technology or manufacturing environment.
  • Solid experience in electronics procurement (mandatory), with semiconductor exposure across areas such as MCUs, analog and power ICs, memory, sensors, connectivity, PCBAs, EMS partners or embedded electronics.
  • Good understanding of the semiconductor ecosystem, including IDMs, fabless suppliers, foundries, OSAT partners, authorised distributors and independent market channels.
  • Experience managing electronics supply chain risks such as allocation, mature-node constraints, obsolescence, product change notifications, end-of-life notices, long qualification cycles, counterfeit risk and single-source dependencies.
  • Strong commercial and contractual understanding, including complex supplier negotiations, long-term supply agreements, capacity commitments, forecast obligations, NCNR clauses, MOQ and MPQ structures and continuity of supply provisions.
  • Experience leading category strategy in a matrix organisation, with the ability to influence Regional Category Managers, local procurement teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to work credibly with Engineering and Quality on qualification, second-source strategies, approved vendor lists, technical equivalency, lifecycle planning and redesign avoidance.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use spend data, BOM data, lifecycle information, market intelligence, contract data and supplier performance information to support decisions.
  • Experience with eProcurement, eSourcing, eAuction, supplier risk tools, BOM analytics, lifecycle management or electronics market intelligence tools is an advantage.
  • Fluent English communication skills.

What makes you successful in this role?

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration or a comparable field. A technical degree in electronics or electrical engineering is advantageous.
  • You create clarity in a complex, technical and supply-constrained category.
  • You lead through governance and influence, aligning global direction with regional execution.
  • You challenge demand constructively and build credibility with senior engineering, operational and commercial stakeholders.
  • You use market intelligence, supplier insight and component-level data to anticipate risk and create value beyond price savings.
  • You bring discipline to the category by running the right governance, documenting key decisions and translating policy requirements into practical ways of working.
