About us: YuLife is a tech driven insurance company on a mission to transform insurance into a force for good. We work with employers and insurer partners to deliver group insurance products that people actually engage with, helping shift the industry from claims led to prevention focused outcomes. Our model combines insurance, technology, and behavioural science to create hyper engaging insurance experiences. Through our award winning platform, employees interact with their insurance every day, building healthier habits while staying protected. This engagement benefits everyone involved. Individuals are more proactive about their health, employers see stronger engagement and retention, and insurers benefit from improved risk profiles over time. At YuLife, we are building a game changing insurance business with a clear commercial edge and a strong sense of purpose. Our culture reflects that ambition. We are a people first, values led company that believes great products are built by teams who feel trusted, supported, and inspired by the mission they are working on. If you want to help reinvent a global industry, work on products with real world impact, and build alongside smart, kind, driven people, YuLife is a place where you can do meaningful work and grow with the business.
The role: Our Game squad builds the gamified heart of the YuLife app: the mechanics, competitions, and reward loops that get hundreds of thousands of members moving every day. We are hiring a Product Owner to drive delivery within the Game squad. You will own the squad backlog and turn a prioritised product roadmap into well-sequenced, buildable work that ships. You will work shoulder to shoulder with a Lead Engineer who owns the technical side, partner closely with Design and Data, and report to the Head of Product, who will invest properly in your development. It is a hands on delivery role with real ownership of how work flows through the squad, and a strong seat from which to grow your product career.
Day to day responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Own and prioritise the squad backlog, turning roadmap priorities into clear user stories and buildable tickets with the Lead Engineer.
- Run the squad’s delivery day to day: standups, refinement, sprint or flow management, unblocking, and fast decisions on in-flight scope questions.
- Manage the flow of smaller improvements and fixes alongside larger initiatives.
- Coordinate releases and own launch readiness: QA, customer support briefing, rollout plan and live tracking in place.
- Track delivery progress and feature performance after release, feeding what you learn back into the roadmap.
- Get in front of customers regularly, at least once a month for your squad’s surface, joining research sessions and running your own conversations so you break work down with real users and their pains in mind.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 2 to 4 years in a delivery-side product role: Product Owner, associate Product Manager, delivery manager or similar, ideally in a consumer app or gamified product environment.
- Organised to a fault: you run a clean backlog, you sequence well, and nothing falls through the cracks.
- Comfortable with agile delivery and the tools that support it (for example Jira), and confident writing clear user stories with solid acceptance criteria.
- Hungry and high energy: you want to be around senior product people and learn fast. Energy matters as much as experience for this role.
- A clear communicator with engineers: you know what to escape and what to decide, and you keep stakeholders informed.
- Genuinely curious about users and comfortable getting in front of them to understand their problems.
