YTL Construction (Infrastructure) is embarking on its most ambitious capital delivery programme to date, and an exciting opportunity has become available for a Technical Manager with extensive wastewater sector experience to join our technical management team. This role will suit those already working as a Technical Manager as well as those looking to make the next step in their career.
You will be a leader in the field of wastewater process science/engineering and, working alongside our large multi-disciplinary engineering teams, have a unique opportunity to help shape the future of wastewater infrastructure, delivering multi-million-pound engineering projects that make a lasting impact on communities and the environment.
What you’ll do:
- You’ll be responsible for the technical governance across all aspects of project development, from feasibility through to detailed design.
- This role also extends across construction and through to commissioning completion.
- You’ll provide impartial expert guidance and advice throughout the life cycle of a project, working with both internal design staff and external design consultants.
- You will provide expert process treatment and technical guidance to support the project delivery teams in developing appropriate and cost-effective solutions to meet specific project requirements in all aspects of wastewater and sludge treatment.
- Review, audit and approve technical reports, appraisals, designs and drawings (both internal and external) to ensure compliance with YTL health and safety, technical, legal and environmental standards.
- Attend project design review meetings to challenge design solutions and assumptions made in their development to highlight any risk concerns or areas of non-compliance with YTL design and industry standards.
- Update, challenge and/or develop YTL design standards, specifications, standard products and standard drawings to ensure sound engineering practice and fitness for purpose.
- Represent YTL at national specialist technical groups and working parties.
- Attend technical approval boards to approve all technical aspects of projects.
- Undertake investigations and appraisals of new technology to assess their suitability for implementation.
- Ensure new technologies provide the best value engineering solutions whilst considering risk and value, whole life costs and carbon emissions.
- Provide training, mentoring, support and guidance to all engineering and technical staff.
This is a hybrid role combining the flexibility and autonomy of remote working while remaining connected to the team in Bath.
What you’ll need:
- A degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
- Chartered professional status of an appropriate institution.
- Extensive, relevant experience that ideally includes a mix of process design, commissioning and/or operational science experience.
- Ideally, a master’s degree (or higher) in a wastewater-related area.
