What you\’ll do
As a Sewerage Operator you will be part of a team working to maintain our sewerage network to meet quality and customer service standards in accordance with wastewater procedures and work instructions.
You will:
- be working with customers to resolve reactive incidents which may include blockages, pollution and flooding (internal and external)
- be responsible for accurately collating and submitting feedback information from site, such as incident forms
- be responsible for your own health and safety as well as that of your team and any contractors, customers and the general public
- be involved in routine maintenance as well as reactive work.
Because we provide a 24-hour service you will be paid stand‑by arrangements which will be on a rota basis, working one week in four which will cover 365 days a year. The role involves travelling across the West of our region, predominantly in the West Somerset, Sedgemoor and North Somerset area.
Please note this is a 2 year fixed term contract opportunity.
What you’ll need
Customer focused and a team player, you will have a conscientious and committed approach and ensure you continually provide a high-quality service with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and exceeding performance targets.
In addition, you will need:
- experience using single man jetting unit and CCTV equipment
- a QCF in sewerage operations or City & Guilds equivalent, or you will be willing to undertake certification
- confined space trained and Streetworks certification for working on the highway would be an advantage but is not essential as training can be provided
- basic IT knowledge, including Microsoft Office – full training will be provided for any internal systems
- to hold a valid driving licence. A company vehicle will be provided for your travel
- to be able to work in pressurised environments, 45 hours per week.
