Our team has won numerous awards for innovation and sustainability with a proven track record of delivering cutting‑edge solutions, including trenchless technologies such as Cured‑in‑Place Pipe (CIPP) lining. We are proud members of the UK Society for Trenchless Technology (UKSTT), promoting best practice and continuous improvement in no‑dig solutions.

What you'll do

Are you hands‑on and like to take ownership of your work? If so, this role is for you. As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of planned sewer rehabilitation projects from outline design, through to construction and completion, to quality, time and cost objectives. Your responsibilities will include:

  • managing all aspects of the planning phase and ensuring robust preparation for successful delivery
  • collaborating with colleagues in environmental, legal, estates, civils and StreetWorks teams
  • managing financial reporting, contractor relationships, and third‑party negotiations at the scheme level
  • ensuring compliance with Wessex Water policies and CDM obligations
  • exploring the best solutions for each challenge and supporting the development of innovative trenchless rehabilitation techniques, including CIPP lining.

We will support you with a strong culture of learning and personal development, giving you the best opportunity to grow your career.

What you'll need

Are you positive, well‑organised, and motivated to develop your engineering career? This is what you need to succeed in this role. You will be well‑organised, proactive, and a confident communicator both verbally and in writing. Ideally, you will be from the water industry and/or have a construction background with experience in project delivery. You must have a safety‑first approach and good organisational skills. In addition, we are looking for:

  • HNC level education or higher in Civil Engineering, Construction or a water industry‑related qualification
  • competence in Microsoft Office software packages and familiarity with GIS mapping software (or a willingness to learn)
  • a willingness to work across the Wessex Water region in the management of projects and schemes.

A full UK driving licence is needed for this role. Knowledge of trenchless sewer renovation techniques would also be an advantage, but is not essential.

What you'll receive

  • A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
  • Career progression and professional development opportunities.
  • 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
  • The opportunity to sell up to five days of holiday every year.
  • The opportunity to buy up to ten days of holiday each year (subject to conditions).
  • A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
  • Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
  • The opportunity to lease a new electric car through salary sacrifice (subject to conditions).
  • Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
  • One paid volunteering day each year.
  • Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
  • Access to an interactive health and wellbeing platform.
  • Support from trained mental health first aiders.
  • A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone who is successfully recruited by us.
