We have an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to work on the development of a major programme of capital investment. YTL Construction UK is responsible for designing and building the assets that enable Wessex Water to deliver services. These include water recycling and treatment centres, pumping stations, reservoirs, and all supporting infrastructure.
What you’ll do
Reporting directly to the Managing Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager, you will be involved in major capital projects, managing pre- and post-contract requirements, up to the value of £30m. As a member of the Commercial Team, you’ll:
- manage the contract payment process across several projects, carry out up-to-date, accurate cost value forecasting and report contract changes, opportunities and risks
- operate to financial deadlines and react to the demands of construction delivery to ensure the best value
- attend regular financial meetings with senior team members
- work closely with Project Managers, Designers, Engineers and Estimators.
The roles are based across the Wessex Water region, which includes locations in Bristol, Bath, Yeovil, Poole and Taunton. You will be based at various sites or in office hubs across the region.
What you’ll need
For this role, you’ll have:
- quantity surveying experience in the construction industry, preferably with the use of the NEC Suite of Contracts
- completed a degree in quantity surveying or a similar qualification
- membership of the RICS/ICES is also desirable but not essential
- experience with change and risk management, as well as tender and final account negotiation
- good people skills, including leadership skills and the ability to form professional relationships with others
- good computer skills and a sound knowledge of health and safety related to the role.
As this position will require travel between YTL offices and construction sites, a full UK driving licence is required.
