Are you from a cyber security background? Do you have Operational Technology experience? Are you looking for an exciting opportunity in a growing department? If so, we are looking for a Cyber Security Operational Technology Specialist to join us on a permanent basis. You will perform essential cyber security activities to defend the organisation, its assets and systems, in particular Wessex Water's Operational Technology (OT) environment. You will also contribute to the design of new systems, security measures and controls, and the continued improvement of measures that help us contain and recover from a security incident. This is a hybrid role based in our Bath head office.
What you'll do:
- Develop, deliver, and maintain secure standards and practices tailored to the unique requirements of the OT environment.
- Improve visibility of assets and advanced incident detection and develop the means to contain and respond to security threats.
- Conduct cyber and security incident response.
- Maintain and develop cyber security expertise.
- Maintain the organisation's situational awareness.
- Manage and maintain security tools and sensors.
- Represent the Security Coordination Centre (SCC).
- Support operational planning, reporting and compliance.
- Drive security improvements across the environment.
- Guide and support cyber security across the business.
What you'll need:
- Very strong ability to respond and adapt in a fast-changing environment, be initiative-taking, work well under pressure and be confident in engaging with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- The ability to use, manage and maintain various cyber security tooling, including EDRs, NDRs and SIEM platforms.
- Strong understanding of important security concepts and security best practices.
- Strong experience analysing events, incidents and threats.
- An enthusiasm for cyber security and keen to promote security awareness while always looking for areas where security may be improved.
- Very strong written communication skills, with experience of documenting policies, procedures, security requirements and reporting for consumption at all levels up to, and including, senior management.
- Very strong verbal communication and relationship building skills with the ability to clearly explain security requirements and important security concepts.
- The ability to collaborate with multiple teams at different technical levels.
- Strong knowledge of security protocols, technologies and best practices.
- An understanding and passion to improve network defence, incident response, analytical skills, computer skills, and communication skills.
- Risk management and cyber technical skills.
- Knowledge of common cyber security threats and application of countermeasures.
- Great knowledge of Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTP) e.g., MITRE Att&ck Framework.
- Knowledge and experience to analyse and investigate Microsoft Windows (desktop and server), Unix and Linux operating system alerts.
