We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Food Waste Operator to join our team in Avonmouth. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient and compliant operation of our food waste processing activities.

This role is a 12 Month Fixed-term contract. We kindly ask that you only proceed with your application if you are comfortable with this.

What you\’ll do

  • Support the operation of our Bristol Food Waste Recycling Facility, including waste delivery reception, depackaging, digestion and dewatering.
  • Act as the first line of maintenance for the plant, including oiling and greasing.
  • Keep records to maintain compliance with waste regulations.
  • Operate in line with documents, procedures and standards, including environmental permits, regulatory guidance, ISO45001, ISO14001, ISO9001, ISO45003 and the Competence Management System.
  • Ensure documents and procedures are followed and updated if a change occurs.
  • Comply with PAS 110 compliance standards.
  • Adhere to and promote stringent health and safety protocols.
  • Monitor and maintain equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Record and report operational data accurately.

What you\’ll need

  • Awareness of plant operating permits and legislation.
  • Process knowledge of the waste food treatment plant.
  • An understanding of health and safety and safe systems of work, including Permits to Work and Process Risk Assessments.
  • The ability to optimise treatment processes.
  • Problem-solving skills and effective communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of the various processes associated with waste food treatment, such as centrifuges, heat recovery, pasteurisation, digestion and power generation.
  • Training to use our food waste treatment plant will be provided.
