We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a self‑motivated and dedicated Environmental Advisor to join our growing SHEQ team. This is a challenging and rewarding role where you will form part of an established, expanding environmental team, supporting a variety of operational construction activities in a site‑based capacity.
What You’ll Do
- Undertake planned visits to construction sites and offices, providing professional environmental advice and guidance.
- Review environmental performance against legal requirements and internal procedures.
- Investigate environmental incidents, near misses, and observations, identifying root causes and preventative measures while sharing lessons learned.
- Attend meetings and pre‑commencement site briefings to provide expert environmental input, including pollution prevention strategies.
- Review and improve site environmental processes and procedures, issuing updates to the wider business.
- Collaborate with internal teams including Quality, Construction, and Health & Safety, as well as external partners.
- Produce clear and accurate reports following site visits, inspections, and investigations.
- Promote best practice and continuous improvement aligned with our ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
- Deliver environmental awareness initiatives, including site‑based training and toolbox talks.
- Support internal environmental training programmes.
- Contribute to social value initiatives across the region.
- Assist during external audits, including ISO 14001 accreditation visits.
- Support environmental and sustainability data collection and reporting.
What You’ll Need
- Proven experience in an environmental advisory role.
- Experience conducting environmental inspections and audits.
- Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and its practical application.
- Experience working within construction environments.
- A solid understanding of health and safety practices.
- Knowledge and experience of pollution prevention.
- Competence in incident investigation.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and promote a positive environmental culture.
- A proactive, self‑motivated approach with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good IT and report‑writing capabilities.
- A full UK driving licence.
Technical Knowledge & Qualifications
- Knowledge of UK environmental legislation, standards, and policy.
- Good understanding of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
- Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Geography, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of environmental best practices within construction, including pollution prevention planning.
