About the team
We have dedicated Design teams which can provide a multitude of design services from concept design through to construction. The Design teams are at the forefront of establishing cost-effective, risk-based solutions that meet the demands of our industry leading water company. Design teams shape the direction of travel we take in delivering our £180 million pound capital delivery programme which is the main source of our workload. We have a team of 120 designers working within the Engineering and Sustainability Design department and typically you will find that Civil Engineers lead the development of the project. For that reason, they need to attain a strong understanding of other departments and discipline areas to be successful.
What you'll do
You will be involved in a wide range of activities that are needed to successfully deliver a design solution. You will interface with various departments and meet with external customers to define the solution to take forward. You will obtain essential skills, knowledge and experiences in the areas of:
- construction
- planning and environment
- regulatory influences
- waste and water process treatment
- mechanical and electrical considerations
- digital design, including 3D and 2D outputs
- estimating
If you demonstrate the necessary drive and diligence required to be successful, you will be given the opportunity to take on increasingly complex challenges with the mentoring and support of a dedicated, professional team. Where you'll work
This role is mainly based at our Operations Centre, Bath, but you will also be expected to visit other sites. To attain the unique knowledge and experience, you will be assigned to various departments during the duration of the apprenticeship.
