A Trainee Asset Information Technician will be part of the Asset Information Management Team in Wessex Water. The role involves maintaining wastewater and water supply network assets in a corporate GIS database using ESRI ArcGIS/ArcPro.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain GIS network asset records, focusing on data entry, digitisation and data accuracy.
- Perform topological and visual checks for completeness.
- Source data from as‑laid drawings, asset surveys, field sketches, field data and engineering drawings.
- Edit live GIS networks using Microsoft Dynamics data and Qlikview reports.
- Coordinate with staff to ensure data accuracy and quality.
- Provide hard copy maps and reports to the business, as needed.
Qualifications & Competencies
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Self‑motivated, initiative‑driven, capable of working under moderate supervision.
- Good teamwork and communication skills across departments.
- Experience or trainee level knowledge in: Microsoft Excel, Access and SQL query tools; ESRI ArcGIS/ArcPro software.
- Some knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint, Dynamics and Qlikview reporting is advantageous.
Working Conditions
This is a fully office‑based role either in the Bath Operations Centre or the Trowbridge Office. During a 6‑month probationary period, training will be provided full‑time. Once you are working independently, flexible working is available up to two days per week from home.
