We are looking for a Senior Asset Information Technician to join our Asset Information Management (AIM) team and play a key role in ensuring the data is right.
Reporting to the AIM Team Leader, you will provide senior technical expertise, leading on complex asset data activities, supporting data quality assurance, and developing Asset Data Technicians to maintain consistently high standards. Our asset data underpins operational delivery, investment planning, safety and regulatory compliance, making this a critical role in supporting the business to operate safely and efficiently. This is an office-based role in either our Claverton, Bath or Kennet Way, Trowbridge Offices, with the ability to work from home once additional training has been completed.
What you'll do
- You will process, edit and manage asset data across corporate systems using information provided to us by our field and construction teams, taking a lead on the more complex, specialist and non-standard asset data activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with corporate data standards.
- As part of the management element of the role, you will act as the first point of escalation for technical asset data issues within the team, carrying out quality assurance, identifying trends, errors and opportunities for improvement to support day-to-day coaching, training, mentoring and technical guidance to the Asset Data Technicians and Trainees in your direct team.
- To support the continued drive for high-standard asset information, you will liaise with Engineering, Operations and other business areas to clarify requirements and resolve data issues as they arise and identify opportunities for continuous improvement of asset data processes, standards and ways of working.
- From time to time you will be required to provide ad-hoc data analysis and reporting to support operational, investment and regulatory needs.
- On occasions you may be asked to deputise for the Team Leader or Manager where required on technical or workflow matters.
What you'll need
- Significant experience working with asset data in an infrastructure or regulated environment.
- Strong understanding of asset data quality, governance and assurance.
- In-depth knowledge of asset data systems and editing tools.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret complex technical information.
- Experience supporting, coaching or training others in a technical environment.
- Strong IT skills, including Excel and SharePoint.
- Good understanding of GDPR, data protection and information security.
- Ability to prioritise workload, manage competing demands and work to SLAs.
- Clear communication skills and confidence working with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Experience with GIS and Dynamics would be an advantage.
What you'll receive
- A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
- Career progression and professional development opportunities.
- 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
- The opportunity to sell up to five days of holiday every year.
- The opportunity to buy up to ten days of holiday each year (subject to conditions).
- A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
- Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
- The opportunity to lease a new electric car through salary sacrifice (subject to conditions).
- Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
- One paid volunteering day each year.
- Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
- Access to an interactive health and wellbeing platform.
- Support from trained mental health first aiders.
- A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone who is successfully recruited by us.
