Do you have a degree in engineering? Are you looking for a role where you can participate in the technical development of projects and develop your project management skills? Working on multiple projects, developing your knowledge? To ensure the delivery of our project workload over the coming decade, we have a great opportunity for a Graduate Design Co-ordination Engineer to work within the capital delivery project management team.

Our YTL Construction business is a multi-disciplinary design and construct contractor, responsible for the delivery of an annual £160m programme of water treatment, wastewater and network projects across our region. Based in our award-winning operations centre in Bath, you will play a key role within a growing team working on an expanding number of projects within the region. The post will include site visits and travel to satellite offices.

As a Graduate Design Co-ordination Engineer, you will report to the project manager and be responsible for managing the design process and acting as an interface between consultants, contractors, internal teams and stakeholders to ensure designs are delivered in accordance with our requirements. This will include:

  • overseeing the design phases of engineering schemes
  • preparing and agreeing design briefs, fee proposals, programmes and the general management of contracts (NEC4) to ensure the design team delivers in line with the agreed financial approvals and meets key dates
  • coordinating and organising surveys to provide client data to establish project scope
  • ensuring that recommended solutions are sustainable, environmentally suitable and best value in terms of whole-life costs
  • representing the client and supporting the Project Manager in dealing with the various stakeholder interfaces
  • attending and where appropriate chairing workshops and regular design meetings to review design proposals and consider issues such as buildability, commissioning, HAZOPs, control philosophy and user requirement specification reviews
  • managing drawing and document administration to ensure consultants and contractors meet project and regulatory requirements
  • reviewing construction and design packs including health and safety documentation.

You will be supported in working towards Chartered Engineer Status and given a personal development plan to ensure you reach your full potential.

What you'll need:

  • You will hold a degree in engineering, be confident, organised and capable of managing your own time.
  • You will also have an appreciation of the key civil, mechanical and electrical design interfaces involved in delivering a project.
  • Be a confident and effective communicator with both internal colleagues and external contractors.
  • Be IT literate and comfortable with report writing.
  • Have some understanding of treatment processes.
  • Have a valid driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
