As a Cyber Security Operations Apprentice, you will help protect the organisation's systems and services across IT, operational technology (OT), and cloud environments.

Working as part of a security team, you will learn how to monitor and respond to security issues, support investigations into alerts, and assist with security incidents under the guidance of experienced colleagues.

You will use a range of security tools to identify and record potential issues while developing the skills, knowledge, and practical experience needed for a career in cyber security.

  • Work alongside Security Team members to support cybersecurity activities and develop an understanding of IT security topics through supervised practical experience.
  • What you'll need

The key areas required are

Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements for enrolment / be enrolled on a Level 3 Cyber Security Apprenticeship (or equivalent recognised apprenticeship standard).

A minimum of GCSE (or equivalent) qualifications in English and Mathematics at Grade 4/C or above is required.

No prior cybersecurity certifications are required; however, demonstrable interest in information technology, computing, and cybersecurity is desirable.

Qualifications

On completion of this apprenticeship, you will hold a Level 3 apprenticeship as a Cyber Security Technician.

  • Total Length of Apprenticeship – 19 months
  • Training provision

This apprenticeship is the Level 3 Cyber Security Technician standard.

The training element will be provided by Ginger Nut Training and consists of a blend of remote monthly one‑to‑one sessions and group work including webinars, online courses, videos as well as self‑study.

You will also complete in‑house training and learn on the job from your colleagues.

The apprenticeship is typically 19-20 months in duration, which takes into account the final assessment period.
