As a Buyer in the newly formed Programme Buying team, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand requirements for the capital delivery programme and work with suppliers to develop robust commercial agreements for key products, which will be required in volume for the coming five-year investment cycle.
You will join the UK Procurement Hub and will work closely with YTL Construction (Infrastructure) to ensure the programme buying approach is successful and adds both supply chain resilience and commercial benefit.
What you\βll do
Day to day, the role will involve:
- developing robust commercial agreements with our key AMP8 partners in a challenging investment cycle
- liaising with the Delivery and Commercial teams to understand requirements across multiple projects within each workstream
- working with category managers to implement the best approach to place orders, book production slots and implement new frameworks to ensure both commercial benefit while focusing on delivery timings and quality requirements
- working with key partners with a focus on sustainable procurement in sourcing activity
- acting as a key conduit between suppliers and internal customers
- understanding the status of an order or contract for the programme and communicating consistently with stakeholders across multiple projects
- working with the category managers to monitor supplier performance for key spend areas and developing reporting opportunities.
You\βll also
- identify where storage will be required and will be responsible for ensuring products are delivered to site in a timely manner
- manage the ordering process for products across the programme and will communicate with internal teams, ensuring all are kept up to date with changes and delivery statuses
- liaise with the Finance team to ensure advanced payments and commitments are aligned with company guidelines
- implement new ideas and methods, and seek ways to both improve the team\βs contribution to the organisation\βs goals and enhance the reputation of the company.
What you\βll need
You will have proven experience working as a Buyer in a similar role, ideally with a knowledge of key products required for construction within the capital delivery programme. Mechanical and electrical (M&E) experience is desirable.
You will have knowledge of the supply base within the water or similar sector. We\βre looking for an outgoing, enthusiastic individual with passion and determination to succeed.
You will have a collaborative, can-do attitude and a desire to work as part of a broad team of differing functions. Industry experience where a programme procurement approach is utilised is desirable.
You will have strong analytical skills and superb attention to detail, and will enjoy interacting with business stakeholders and suppliers to gain the best outcomes.
In addition, you will:
- have an understanding of eSourcing systems (eg, Jaggaer, Coupa, etc)
- have knowledge of procurement policies and procedures
- be working towards becoming a member of CIPS or gaining an equivalent qualification
- have negotiation and influencing skills
- have the ability to clearly communicate business requirements to suppliers and contractors
- be highly organised and articulate
- have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
