We're seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer with strong water sector experience to help shape the future of water infrastructure by bringing technical expertise, innovative thinking, and leadership to our team. What you'll do

  • Be a trusted authority for electrical design delivery, providing guidance and solutions to complex technical challenges.
  • Influence major projects from concept through to construction, ensuring innovative, sustainable and best-value solutions that are safe to build, operate and maintain.
  • Lead in electrical design across water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including treatment works, pumping stations and network assets.
  • Contribute to the strategic technical direction and standards for our Electrical Engineering team.
  • Develop and evaluate options to identify the least whole-life cost solutions.
  • Review and approve technical reports, calculations, designs and drawings for compliance with technical, health and safety, legal and environmental standards.
  • Provide expert technical guidance and mentoring to support developing Engineers.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure scope alignment and integrated delivery.
  • Liaise with site managers on technical issues and ensure design proceeds in line with budgetary and programme constraints.
  • Provide technical leadership on industrial power system design, including specification of distribution substation and standby generation equipment (HV and LV systems).

What you'll need

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status.
  • An in-depth understanding of BS 7671:2018.
  • Experience working with contractors, clients and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • A positive, adaptable mindset and strong team ethics.
