YTL Construction UK are embarking on its largest capital delivery programme to date and is looking for a motivated Project Engineer to play a key role in integrating innovative and repeatable engineering solutions across our treatment and network projects. This role sits at the heart of how we improve delivery-bridging design, digital engineering, off‑site manufacturing and project teams to ensure high-quality, coordinated solutions are developed and successfully implemented across multiple schemes. This is a unique opportunity to combine technical design involvement with project engineering responsibilities, supporting both the development of efficient engineering solutions and their rollout into live projects.
What you'll do
- Design integration & Technical delivery – You will support the development and implementation of repeatable engineering solutions into projects, working closely with delivery teams to ensure designs are technically robust, well-coordinated, and aligned with programme requirements. The role includes contributing to key engineering outputs such as P&IDs, models, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation, while ensuring solutions consider buildability, operability, and whole-life performance.
- Project Engineering & Delivery Support – In this role, you will help coordinate design and delivery teams to enable a smooth transition from standard design through to projects. A key aspect of the role is facilitating effective cross-disciplinary communication to remove blockers and maintain progress.
- Stakeholder Engagement – You will engage with a broad range of internal teams, delivery partners, suppliers, and external stakeholders, supporting collaboration across design and integration of products into scheme delivery. Through proactive communication, you will help resolve site, design, and integration challenges, ensuring alignment and continuity throughout the product lifecycle.
- Technical Assurance & Continuous Improvement – You will contribute to design reviews, governance processes, and technical assurance activities to ensure engineering outputs meet regulatory requirements, company standards, and project objectives. The role also involves capturing feedback from delivery and operational teams to support continuous improvement and help embed efficient, consistent engineering approaches across schemes.
You'll also have:
- Involvement across the full product lifecycle from concept through to construction, commissioning and feedback.
- The opportunity to shape and embed repeatable, standardised engineering solutions.
- Exposure to DFMA, Off‑Site Build and digital engineering tools.
- A clear pathway toward technical leadership, design management or project leadership roles.
- To support the development and coordination of engineering solutions across the project lifecycle, working with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure integration and consistency.
- To influence high-quality technical deliverables including P&IDs, 3D models, 2D drawings, datasets, specifications and supporting documentation.
- To apply digital engineering methods and lean design principles to improve the quality, efficiency and consistency of outputs.
- To ensure designs meet YTL standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations, contributing to technical assurance, design reviews and governance processes.
This role is technically focused and not line management, but it will influence design direction, support coordination, and help maintain high engineering standards across standard product development.
What you'll need
- Confidence and the technical ability to coordinate multiple technical disciplines while maintaining clarity, consistency and quality of engineering outputs.
- Balance design quality and standardisation with fast-paced programme and delivery timelines.
- Manage design changes, version control, and accurate documentation across multiple products.
- Integrate repeatable engineering solutions into live projects with differing site constraints and requirements.
- Embed continuous improvement and lessons learned into future designs and programme delivery.
- Navigate competing priorities of cost, risk, performance and innovation while maintaining product development momentum.
You'll also need:
- A degree or HNC/HND in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Process or related engineering discipline.
- Solid, time-served experience in the design or delivery of water and wastewater treatment assets.
- Proven experience of working alongside multi-disciplinary teams on medium to large projects.
- Knowledge of UK design standards, WIMES, regulatory frameworks and CDM 2015 duties.
What you'll receive
- A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
- Career progression and professional development opportunities.
- 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
- The opportunity to sell up to five days of holiday every year.
- The opportunity to buy up to ten days of holiday each year (subject to conditions).
- A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
- Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
- The opportunity to lease a new electric car through salary sacrifice (subject to conditions).
- Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
- One paid volunteering day each year.
- Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
- Access to an interactive health and wellbeing platform.
- Support from trained mental health first aiders.
- A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone who is successfully recruited by us.
