An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Procurement Directorate within YTL Construction.
The Procurement Directorate is responsible for procurement across YTL's UK businesses, including Wessex Water, helping to deliver value, innovation, and sustainable outcomes across major infrastructure and operational programmes.
We are seeking experienced procurement professionals supporting key areas of spend across the business. These roles will play a critical part in delivering procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and providing commercial support to stakeholders across the organisation.
Current opportunities require experience in the procurement of capital equipment, assets, and infrastructure-related spend, as well as IT hardware, software, and technology-related services.
Experience in the utilities sector is preferable.
What you'll do
As a Category Manager, you will enjoy working with your stakeholders to identify & unlock value and mitigate risk from existing and new supply chains. You will analyse the market, identify opportunities to aggregate spend, and develop new sourcing opportunities.
Working at an experienced level, you will ensure that all procurement activity and agreements are designed and implemented to deliver best value to the company.
You will liaise with the relevant internal and external departments within our growing supply base, focusing on sector efficiencies and innovation.
What you'll need
You will be degree qualified or have extensive equivalent working experience in the field of category management. In addition, you will ideally be MCIPS accredited or hold an equivalent accreditation.
You will have worked in a civil engineering, utilities, or heavy industry environment, with prior experience of purchasing equipment and critical assets, predominantly for water supply and treatment plants, as well as other capital schemes or similar.
Other skills and experience required to undertake this role include:
- strong commercial and negotiation skills
- tendering and framework management experience
- stakeholder management and communication skills
- market and product knowledge & expertise.
- familiarisation with large-scale capital projects
- the ability to operate both independently, as well as working collaboratively as part of a team
- knowledge of regulated procurement processesworking knowledge of a range of contract types
- working knowledge of eSourcing systems
- experience in managing a team.
