YT Tech is partnering with a defence organisation looking for a Systems Engineer on a permanent basis. We are seeking a flexible, enthusiastic, and highly experienced Systems Engineer to join their dynamic R&D team. This is a hands-on design and technical leadership role where you will take complete ownership of system designs, guiding products from initial concept through to manufacture and through-life support.
As a Systems Engineer, your blend of hands-on technical skill and engineering management will see you:
- System Design & Integration: Participate in the full development, integration, verification, and validation of advanced engineering projects.
- Testing & Diagnostics: Provide technical oversight and collaborate closely with a multi-disciplinary internal team (Software, RF, PCB Layout, Mechanical) and external partners.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Coordinate with suppliers, manage in-house/external production, and engage with clients to elicit requirements and provide technical support.
Strong experience across the full engineering lifecycle, utilizing formal frameworks such as the V-model and Agile development. Proven ability to test and debug complex systems across hardware, software, and FPGA firmware domains.
Engineering Tools: Experience managing Configuration Items and BoMs using Aras Innovator (or equivalent PLM), alongside tools like IBM DOORS, Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket. A background in electronics or RF design, radio systems, and the use of RF test equipment. Automated Test Equipment (ATE) software development experience (e.g., Python) and working knowledge of Linux. Experience defining and executing formal qualification testing (EMC, environmental, safety) in line with standards like Def Stan, MIL-STD, or ISO.
