Mechanical Design Contract Cambridge 2 months Hybrid £50-55PH Outside IR35 Role Overview We require an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer on an Outside IR35 contract basis to deliver mechanical design packages for sub-modules intended for integration onto an Unmanned Aerial System (UAS). The role focuses on detailed CAD development, assembly management, and vendor liaison for rapid prototyping and low-volume manufacturing. Key Responsibilities * Design and develop mechanical sub-modules and packaging for UAS integration. * Manage CAD structures, complex assemblies, and design references using PTC Creo and Windchill. * Liaise directly with manufacturing facilities to source rapid-turnaround components, select appropriate materials, and determine production methods. * Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams across electronics, RF, and systems integration. Required Technical Profile * Essential: * Proven track record in mechanical design engineering within aerospace, defense, or high-reliability electronic systems. * Expert-level proficiency in PTC Creo. * Strong working knowledge of Windchill PDM/PLM. * Hands-on experience with the Creo Advanced Assembly Extension (AAX) for top-down design and skeleton models. * Desirable: * Design experience with aerodynamic enclosures, fairings, or pods. * Experience designing radomes or RF-transparent structures. * Demonstrated background in DFM (Design for Manufacture) for rapid-turnaround parts (CNC machining, additive manufacturing, composites).
