The Role:

Sentec, a Xylem brand, seeks a Senior Engineering Consultant to join our talented technical team. We are looking for someone with significant expertise and multidisciplinary technical skills.

As part of our team, you will work on a variety of projects, from early-stage innovation to full product development. Projects are multidisciplinary, integrating science with electronic, mechanical, firmware, and software design. Sentec collaborates within the Xylem group and with third parties, including well-known brands. You will be involved from ideation to prototype, manufacturing, and production, delivering outstanding ideas and products to clients.

You will be responsible for delivering projects to internal and external clients, supporting project management, and engaging in business development activities. The role is primarily based in Cambridge, with some travel within the UK, Europe, or the US.

At Sentec, you will work in a rapidly evolving industry, developing solutions for sustainability. Success requires leadership, a hands-on problem-solving approach, and managing projects within time, budget, and client expectations.

The role is diverse, requiring daily problem-solving. You should enjoy working in a dynamic team, meeting deadlines, and delivering excellent technical solutions. Effective communication and opportunities to enhance negotiation skills and technical knowledge are integral to the role.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience in developing new products and platforms, preferably in a consultancy role.
• Experience in early-stage technology validation and prototyping.
• Strong collaboration skills and leadership in multidisciplinary teams.
• Proven project delivery experience within tight timelines and exceeding client expectations.
• Effective communication skills at all levels.
• Bachelor’s degree (2.1 or above) in a relevant scientific or engineering field, with industry experience.
• Knowledge of embedded hardware design.
• Experience in mechanical design and rapid prototyping.
• Understanding of physical systems and metrology.
• Knowledge of analogue signal chain design, simulation, signal processing, and filtering.
• Familiarity with C/C++ for microprocessor programming.
• Experience in consulting project sales and operations.
• Skills in project scoping, planning, and management.
• Experience in lab testing and validation activities.

Physical Demands:

Regular sitting, standing, reaching, bending, and moving about the facility. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.

The work environment is primarily office or laboratory-based, with an estimated travel requirement of 10% or less. Standard weekly hours are 37.5.
