Water utilities are entering one of the most demanding delivery cycles in decades. Regulatory pressure, AMP investment, energy efficiency targets, and asset resilience expectations are reshaping how wastewater treatment works are designed and maintained. If you understand how to influence projects before they go to tender — this role will give you genuine commercial leverage.
The Role
- Develop and execute a regional business development strategy focused on WwTW
- Engage early in the project lifecycle to influence specifications
- Identify and convert opportunities across new assets, upgrades, and retrofit solutions
- Expand recurring aftermarket revenue (maintenance, refurbishment, spares, lifecycle support)
- Build strong relationships with water utilities, consultants, contractors, and framework partners
- Track AMP cycles, regulatory drivers, and competitor activity to sharpen positioning
- Maintain a disciplined pipeline with accurate forecasting and CRM reporting
This is not a reactive sales role. It’s about shaping demand upstream.
- Early-stage technical influence rather than late-stage price competition
- A balanced focus on capital projects and sustainable service revenue
- Exposure to major UK water utility investment cycles
- Collaboration with engineering, service, and bid teams who understand complex infrastructure delivery
What We’re Looking For
- Proven business development experience within wastewater treatment, pumping solutions, or related infrastructure markets
- A clear understanding of UK water utility procurement frameworks and AMP cycles
- The confidence to engage credibly with consultants and asset managers
- A structured approach to pipeline management and forecasting
- Commercial awareness with long-term strategic thinking
Experience in rotating equipment, process technologies, or treatment solutions would be advantageous. At Xylem, you’ll contribute to critical national infrastructure while building a commercially sustainable portfolio across capital and lifecycle services. This is an opportunity to influence how wastewater assets are specified, delivered, and maintained — not just to respond to tenders. If you’re ready to lead regional growth in one of the UK’s most strategically important sectors, we’d welcome a conversation.
