As an IT Application Support Engineer at Xylem, you will play a key role in supporting and troubleshooting bespoke applications that are critical to our operations. You’ll develop a strong understanding of these systems to effectively replicate and investigate user-reported issues, test and validate solutions, create and use clear and detailed instruction and documentation, and assist customers in resolving problems and using the applications effectively.
Key Responsibilities

Provide support for both enterprise and custom-built applications.

Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve application issues, coordinating with development teams as needed.

Manage incident, service request, and problem tickets through the IT Service Management (ITSM) system.

Participate in diagnosing issues, system upgrades, patch management, and application deployments, sometimes with customers.
-
Assess and prioritise resolution of configuration and deployment issues in line with customer SLAs.
-
Maintain technical documentation including standard operating procedures, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge base articles.

Identify recurring problems and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Ensure compliance with Xylem\’s IT and security standards.
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
-
3+ years of experience in application support, DevOps, or similar discipline.
-
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
-
Understanding of relational databases.
-
Proficiency in supporting Java applications on Linux platforms.
-
Experience working with ticketing and monitoring tools.
-
Strong communication skills.
-
A collaborative team member who adapts quickly, embraces new challenges, and is eager to learn new skills.
Preferred:

Understanding of ITIL principles and service management practices.

Experience with MS SQL Server, Postgres and/or Maria DB

Knowledge of AWS and Terraform an advantage

Experience with scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python) or automation tools.

Clean driving license.
