Under the Education (Teachers) Act 1998 and the Education (Mandatory Registration) Regulations Wales 2000, all qualified teachers employed in maintained schools must be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC). This position is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
