Ysgol Mynydd Bychan is seeking 2 x Teaching Assistants to join our happy and caring school, which offers a warm welcome to everyone. This is an exciting time in our school's history as we move to a new site and expand our provision to become a dual-stream school, enabling us to offer the highest quality Welsh education to more learners.

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated teaching assistant to join our team to support learners in reaching their full potential in a safe and inspiring environment. We strongly believe in our community ethos and place great emphasis on well-being, inclusion, and creative learning. The successful candidate will be:

  • enthusiastic, dedicated, and flexible
  • able to communicate and write fluently in Welsh
  • capable of promoting positive behaviour
  • able to provide support to the pupil with daily class and school routines
  • able to work well with others
  • experienced in working in a special needs setting or have the desire to work in a specialist environment

Under the Education (Wales) Act 2014, all School Learning Support Workers must be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC). This position is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

The salary is subject to the Living Wage attachment from 1st April 2026, which raises pay rates to £13.45 per hour (scp 3 - 5). This attachment will then be reviewed annually in April. Cardiff Council reserves the right to make any changes to, or withdraw the Living Wage attachment.
